The Area of Interest - The World Trade Center, NYC

The idea of a World Trade Center was first proposed in New York City in 1946 and the NYC State Legislature shortly thereafter passed a bill allowing Governor Dewey to being plans for the building. David Rockefeller suggested that the Port Authority build the Trade Center in Lower Manhattan to stimulate economic in the area. Due to objections from New Jersey Governor Meyner, the project was delayed until the early '60s as the Port Authority required approval from the governors of both New York and New Jersey.
