Geospatial Freebie of the Month – ET GeoWizards 9.9
For the December 2009 Geospatial Freebie of the Month, we turn our attention to one of the most popular software packages in the industry, ESRI's ArcGIS. One of the best features of ArcGIS is the ability to add free scripts and tools other users have created and posted to their website (the complete database is found here - http://arcscripts.esri.com/).
eMap's personal favorite is ET GeoWizards 9.9. This plug-in is packed with vector, table and raster tools galore. Below is a short list of the features we use the most - but there are many more goodies that could have been included in this list. If you have not discovered ET GeoWizards yet we are confident that once you install, you will never be able to go without it - enjoy!
- Create a new shapefile without going to ArcCatalog
- Create a vector grid for quadrant analysis of spatial data or raster tiling
- Connect points into a line or rectangle
- Fill holes inside polygons
- Erase features of one polygon layer with polygons from another
- Reliable import and export of KMZ/KML files
- Connect points into a line or rectangle
- Creation of minimum bounding polygons
